Nathan Cummings Foundation (NCF) announced Amy Sorensen Ben Dov has been elected Chair of the Board of Trustees. A long-serving trustee with 19 years of board service, Amy brings a professional background in philanthropy, community engagement, and cross-sector partnerships, as well as a strong commitment to advancing meaningful social change.
Amy’s appointment reflects the Foundation’s commitment to intergenerational leadership and long-term stewardship. She succeeds her cousin Jaimie Mayer, whose seven-year tenure as Chair modeled fourth-generation leadership grounded in values, accountability, and dedication to justice.
During her service, Jaimie helped guide the Foundation toward a more focused, systemic approach to change, implemented NCF’s commitment to activating 100% of its endowment in impact investing, launched its first program-related investment (PRI) initiative, and strengthened its commitment to racial, economic, and environmental justice (REEJ).
“A commitment to social justice is a commitment to a continuous journey of growth, learning, and courageous progress. It was an honor to walk that path with the incredible board and staff of the Nathan Cummings Foundation,” Jaimie said. “The Foundation’s journey toward justice is in good hands under Amy’s leadership, and I look forward to cheering her on in this next chapter.”
Jaimie recently launched Middle Child Philanthropy (middlechildphilanthropy.com), a boutique consulting firm that partners with families and philanthropic leaders to transform how values, power, and wealth move across generations for positive impact. She will remain on the NCF Board of Trustees.
Throughout her career, Amy has worked to connect philanthropic leaders, nonprofit organizations, and communities to address complex social challenges. Her approach reflects NCF’s value of interdependence, the belief that lasting impact is built through shared responsibility across leadership, mission, investments, and partnerships.
Amy’s commitment to this work is rooted in the values she grew up with, which included responsibility, community, and social impact. Living and working in Jerusalem has further shaped her perspective on resilience, dialogue, and the importance of sustained engagement in communities navigating complexity and injustice.
“I believe foundations have a responsibility not only to fund the work, but to cultivate trust, curiosity, and humility in how we show up,” Amy said. “Through thoughtful partnership and long-term commitment, philanthropy can support lasting change.”
Amy begins her term as Chair during a period of heightened uncertainty for many communities. Having lived and worked in contexts shaped by conflict and instability, she understands that progress is often incremental and requires long-term presence and care.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amy to the role of chair. She brings skills and a unique life experience to the role,” said Nathan Cummings Foundation President & CEO, Rey Ramsey.
As Chair, Amy will work closely with the Board of Trustees, Rey, and the Foundation’s staff to guide NCF through its next chapter. This includes supporting the Foundation’s next strategy cycle, fostering collaboration and learning, and ensuring alignment between NCF’s values, strategy, and impact.
“What excites me most about this role is leading together,” Amy added. “I’m grateful to work alongside people who choose to give their time, ideas, and commitment to this work.”
