Susan brings more than 30 years of experience designing and advancing mission-driven investment strategies across the philanthropic, nonprofit, government, and financial sectors. Throughout her career, she has worked to expand access to capital for underserved communities, helping shape financing strategies that support affordable housing, community development, small businesses, and economic opportunity. Her experience includes leading national lending initiatives at Enterprise Community Partners, one of the country’s largest Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), advising federal agencies including the U.S. Departments of Treasury, Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Commerce, and Agriculture, and playing a pivotal role in launching Treasury’s CDFI Bond Guarantee Program, which has provided more than $3 billion in long-term, low-cost financing to CDFIs nationwide.
Most recently, Susan helped guide the Foundation through an important period of growth in our mission investing work, thinking not only about the investments we make today, but also about building the strategy, systems, and discipline that allows this work to grow, evolve, and endure well beyond any one person’s tenure.
Susan leads NCF’s Program-Related Investments and mission investing strategy, guiding the full investment lifecycle – from origination and underwriting through portfolio management – while strengthening the systems, partnerships, and practices that allow us to deploy capital with discipline, integrity, and deep alignment to our REEJ commitments. She will serve as NCF’s primary liaison to our Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO), helping ensure our investment strategy remains closely aligned with our mission and organizational priorities.
