NCF’s voice is an asset—rooted in trust, organizing power, and credibility with investors and peers.

NCF leverages its voice through proxy voting, strategic communications, and cross-sector partnerships to advance its mission and catalyze change. By aligning investments and messaging, NCF not only influences corporate behavior but also shapes policy, mobilizes capital, and shifts culture. This integrated approach strengthens movements, builds public will, and drives systemic, long-term impact.

Proxy Voting

Proxy voting is a key part of NCF’s active ownership strategy, offering input to company boards on issues like executive pay and climate action. It reflects the Foundation’s commitment to aligning investment practices with its mission and driving long-term, systemic change across the companies it owns.

Shareholder Resolutions

NCF files shareholder resolutions independently and with peers to address issues tied to long-term value and its focus areas. Over 15 years, it has filed 200+ resolutions—from climate to compensation—with many withdrawn after successful negotiations. Support has ranged from 2% to 98.9%.

Communications

At NCF, communications is a strategic asset—amplifying partners, aligning stakeholders, and telling a values-driven story. We use our voice to elevate solutions, expand sightlines, and advance impact by ensuring that every message reflects the totality of our mission, values, and vision for change.
